Effectively Communicating Scientific Concepts via Inclusive Outreach Marine Debris Conference, Ocean City, MD. Ocean Focused Spherical Programming – Oral Presentation – (Presenter & Panelist)This session will help to illuminate best practices for communicating science research to the general public and provide alternative approaches to traditional teaching methods that will address the needs of people with various learning styles. The presenter will share firsthand experiences, which will serve to demonstrate proven strategies to address, interact, accommodate, and be sensitive to a multifaceted audience while effectively communicating difficult scientific concepts. Participants will learn how to “modify on the fly” and understand how crucial that concept is in all educational settings including formal, informal, public, and private. The speaker will share strategies that will help you make necessary adjustments to your outreach approach so that you can develop inclusive and spherical programming that has the ability to reach the largest number of individuals at your event or in your school. 12/05-08/2023 (All Day)

Best Practices for Inclusive Outreach NJ Clean Communities certification series – Oral Presentation – (Presenter) – This session will provide alternative approaches to traditional teaching methods that will address the needs of people with various disabilities. The presenter will share firsthand experiences, which will serve to demonstrate proven strategies to address, interact, accommodate, and be sensitive to a multifaceted audience. Participants will learn how to “modify on the fly” and understand how crucial that concept is in all educational settings including formal, informal, public, and private. Sharing experiences affords us the opportunity to learn what could have been done differently while allowing us to gain a better understanding of alternative strategies that were developed, implemented, and found to be effective. Please join us as we review the importance of Universal Instructional Design (UID) and share strategies that will help you make necessary adjustments to your outreach approach so that you can develop inclusive and spherical programming that has the ability to reach the largest number of individuals at your event or in your school. 9/22/2023 (11:00 AM)

“Hidden Disabilities and Long COVID” SciAccess 2021 Conference – Oral Presentation – (Presenter) – This session will provide information regarding Dysautonomia and Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS) from someone who has suffered from the condition for 14 years. The Long COVID patients are being diagnosed with dysautonomia and POTS and this session will shed light on what these conditions are and what can be expected if you are diagnosed with these conditions as a Long COVID patient. OHIO State University 11/13/2021 (11:30am-12:30pm)
